FAQ

This page is dedicated to answer frequently asked questions. We are open to any suggestions that you would like to send us to conference(at)problender(dot)pt.

Animations

1. Question: Are there specific animations that I can submit? And is there a minimum time for a submitted animation?
Answer: Animations are accepted in their various categories (2D, 3D, showreels, short films, advertising, technical demos, etc.) and they will be presented by subject and evaluated by the audience in the conference. There is not a minimum time defined for the animations, but the organization reservs it self the right to filter the submissions in case they contain likely sensitive material or of less quality.

Game Contest

1. Question: I am using free 3D models to complement a game that I am developing for the Game Contest. Is this allowed or should I develop these models myself?
Answer: It is correct to use material which is freely available to complement a submission to the conference or for the author to develop that content alone, this is a decision of the author(s) alone. It is only necessary that any material used from these free sources is duly referenced by the author(s).
2. Question: If I want to submit a game can I also do an oral presentation or show any media related to the game during the conference? If yes, what kind of equipments are available to present the game to the community?
Answer: Besides the submission of a game, it is possible to submit oral presentations in the form of an article, a workshop (for instance about a game stage) and/or an animation about the game. The oral presentations will be performed in an auditorium with the necessary conditions for each speaker, including a computer, videoprojector, microphone, etc. There will also be special rooms equiped with Apples and PCs where the workshops will take place.
3. Question: In case there is not enough room to alocate the projects submitted, how will the organization do their distribution in the two days of the conference? Or is it only the winners who will be entitled to be exhibited in the conference?
Answer: At the moment, an oral presentation is planned to take place about the contest which will involve doing an overview of the highlights, display game images and undertake an awards session. This presentation will be performed by an element of the organization.
4. Question: Given the fact that sixth months is a relatively short deadline, might it be possible to submit a demo of the game instead of a complete version?
Answer: Yes, but that should be mentioned in the submission and, in case the submission also includes an article, animation or workshop, that should also be mentioned in these submissions.
5. Question: Ideas registered in the official document but which are not implemented in the Blender project or not included in the game demo will be considered?
Answer: Only the ideas which are actually implemented in the final version of the game/demo will be considered. Nevertheless, there is always the possibility of submitting an article focused in future work.
6. Question: How are the game files submitted in case they are larger than Hotmail’s 20MB maximum attachment? Will it be possible to upload files via other systems such as Skydrive, Google Docs, etc?
Answer: Yes, attachments can be submitted via other means which the organization will reveal in the website soon.
